Itinerary
1
Day 1
Arrive Cochin. Check in to heritage boutique hotel. Evening guided walk through Fort Kochi and the Chinese fishing nets.

Day 2
Full-day Cochin sightseeing — Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, Santa Cruz Basilica. Evening Kathakali cultural show.

Day 3
Drive to Alleppey (1.5 hrs). Board a luxury houseboat for a languid cruise through the palm-fringed backwaters. Overnight on board.

Day 4
Morning cruise and disembark. Drive to Munnar (3 hrs) through rolling tea estates. Check in and evening at leisure.

Day 5
Tea estate guided walk, Eravikulam National Park visit, and Top Station viewpoint for misty valley views.

Day 6
Drive to Cochin Airport for departure. Tour ends.

One night on the houseboat was the right call

They talked us out of a two-night houseboat booking and put us in a Kumarakom resort instead. Exactly the right advice — the second night on the water would have been dull with a four-year-old.

The tea estate stay above Munnar was the highlight of the trip. Breakfast on the veranda with the valley filling up with cloud is something I will remember for a long time.
